VOD Software Firm Concurrent Raises $14 Million in Private Placement

Atlanta - Concurrent Computer Corp., an Atlanta-based provider of high-performance Linux software used in video-on-demand services by broadband cable providers, has entered into an agreement to raise an expected total of $14 million in a private placement of stock with a group of accredited investors.

Monster Worldwide Inc., parent of the popular jobs website Monster.com, said on Monday that its founder, Andrew McKelvey, has resigned from its board of directors after refusing to be interviewed for the company's internal stock option investigation. McKelvey also stepped down as Monster's chairman emeritus, a position he assumed after giving up the Chief Executive and Chairman jobs earlier this.

Duluth, Ga. - Concurrent, a provider of video-on-demand delivery technology, announced on Wednesday that Chinese cable TV provider Shekou CATV will use its technology to launch a video-on-demand service for its subscribers.

BigBand Networks, Concurrent Team on Network-based Digital Video Recorder

Atlanta - BigBand Networks, a provider of broadband multimedia infrastructure for video, voice and data services, announced on Monday that it partnered with video-on-demand technology developer Concurrent on a network-based digital video recorder service. The two companies' combined technologies will enable third-party providers to offer digital video recorder services where the recorded programs are stored on the provider's servers, rather than on home set-top boxes.

Duluth, Ga. - Concurrent, a provider of video-on-demand technology, has completed its acquisition of Everstream Holdings, a Cleveland-based provider of business intelligence software, for about $15 million in Concurrent stock. Atlanta -- Concurrent, a provider of broadband video-on-demand delivery equipment, announced on Friday that it has acquired Cleveland-based Everstream, a provider of on-demand and interactive TV monitoring technologies for cable TV providers, for $15 million in Concurrent stock. Everstream will operate as a subsidiary of Concurrent, and its technology will be marketed to the finance, homeland security and gaming industries. Atlanta-based Concurrent had been an investor in Everstream since 2002; the companies expect the deal to close in early October. "When considering the synergies between our technologies and the motivations driving this union, you begin to recognize how committed our two companies are to achieving the same goal: providing broadband subscribers with the best entertainment viewing experience possible," said Everstream CEO Stephen McHale.
