CondeNet Turning Flip.com Teen Site Into Social Network App

New York - Publisher Conde Nast's online unit CondeNet said this week that it will turn its Flip.com community site for teens into a Web application for social networking platforms, starting with Facebook. The company will continue to operate the Flip.com site, but shift development and marketing focus to distributed applications for the Flip application, which claims 300,000 users and lets teens create and share multimedia flipbooks.

Web Book Publisher TasteBook Launches With CondeNet Investment

Berkeley, Calif. - TasteBook, an online service that lets users create personal books comprised of content found online, on Wednesday launched its service and announced an investment from CondeNet, the digital arm of publisher Conde Nast.

Sony Adds Content to Web Video Service for Bravia HDTVs

San Diego - Sony Electronics said on Tuesday that it has added content from CondeNet, Sports Illustrated, Blip.tv and Sony Pictures to the Bravia Internet Video Link service available for owners of its Bravia high-definition televisions. The $300 Internet Video Link device hooks into the back of a Bravia TV, and delivers Internet video programming over an existing broadband connection without the need for a computer. Content from Yahoo, AOL and Crackle has been available on the service since it launched in August.

New York - CondeNet, the new media unit of magazine publisher Conde Nast, announced on Wednesday that it has named Dirk Standen as editor-in-chief and Marcia Kline as publisher of its Style.com and Men.Style.com sites, the online homes for its Vogue and W, and GQ and Details magazines, respectively. Previously, Standen was deputy editor of CondeNet, while Kline was publisher of Child Magazine.
