EMI's Parlophone Label Debuts Online Demo Submissions

London - Major record label EMI Group's Parlophone label announced on Tuesday the creation of an online service where aspiring musicians can upload their demo recordings and publicity photos for consideration. Written by a former musician, the software tracks which recordings have been reviewed and rated by Parlophone -- and also relays this information to musicians. "One of our top priorities is to keep our talent spotting process as efficient and up to date as possible," Nigel Coxon, head of Parlophone's artist and repertoire team, told AP. Coxon added that the label, which is home to artists including Paul McCartney and Radiohead, hopes to transition all demo submissions to the online service in the coming months.

Fourth Season of Fox's "The O.C." to Debut on MySpace

Los Angeles - Fox announced on Tuesday that it will debut the first two episodes from the fourth season of "The O.C." on its MySpace social network and a selection of local Fox affiliate websites. The first episode will begin streaming on Thursday, a week in advance of its broadcast premiere on Nov. 2, from MySpace and 24 local Fox TV websites. Both episodes will be available for free, supported by ads, through Fox's Full Throttle video player for a week following their TV broadcasts.

Community Connect Debuts Music Sites for African-American, Latin Artists

New York - Community Connect, a provider of niche social networks with over 16 million members, on Monday announced the launch of new online music communities for African-American and Hispanic audiences. BlackPlanet Music features profiles for over 175,000 hip-hop artists, and new pages have recently been created by Janet Jackson, Diddy and Ludacris. New York-based Community Connect said Enrique Iglesias, Mario Vasquez and Tego Calderon also recently launched pages on its MiGente Music network.

MTV to Debut Christina Aguilera Video On-air, Online

New York - MTV announced on Monday that Christina Aguilera will appear on its "Total Request Live" program on Wednesday to debut the video for "Ain't No Other Man," the first single from her upcoming album.

NBC Debuts New TV Show with Free First Episode on iTunes

New York - NBC this week premiered its new prime time legal drama "Conviction" on Apple's iTunes Store, offering a free download of the series' hour-long pilot episode. The pilot will remain available until the show's network television premiere on March 3; future episodes will be sold on iTunes for $1.99 each on the day after they first air on television. "We believe we have a youthful and energetic cast that should appeal to a new audience increasingly comfortable with this downloadable format as a viewing option, and we want to reach out to these viewers," NBC Entertainment Group CEO Jeff Zucker told The Hollywood Reporter.
