Tokyo - Tokyo-based game publisher Sega has announced a partnership with Vancouver, Canada-based developer Deep Fried Entertainment, to create titles for Sony's PSP handheld. The studio was launched in 2005 by five industry veterans who have worked on titles including "Need for Speed: Underground" and "Baldur's Gate." Sega said the deal underscores its increased emphases on Western content development, as also evidenced by similar recent deals with Silicon Knights, Obsidian Entertainment, Monolith Productions and Pseudo Interactive, and acquisitions of The Creative Assembly, Secret Level and Sports Interactive.
