Visual Effects Firm Digital Domain Gets $31 Million Investment

Venice, Calif. - Digital Domain, a digital effects studio that has worked on films including "Titanic," "The Day After Tomorrow" and "I, Robot," announced on Tuesday that it has received a $31 million investment from Falcon Investment Advisors and GunnAllen Financial. Venice, Calif.-based Digital Domain's co-chairmen include director Michael Bay ("Bad Boys," "The Rock," "Armageddon"). "Having completed this round of financing, we are now in a position to make the substantial technology investments that will enable us to bring breakthroughs like photo-realistic, computer-generated human beings within reach of a wide range of feature film, video game, and advertising applications," said Digital Domain CEO Carl Stork. The company will use the funds to retire debt, and to invest in its feature film, TV commercial and digital visual effects software businesses.
