Disney to Shutter Disney Mobile Phone Service

North Hollywood, Calif. - The Walt Disney Internet Group announced on Thursday that it will shutter its Disney Mobile phone service, opting instead to offer its Family Center service through a partnership with another U.S. carrier.

Autodesk Powers GPS Child Locator Service for Disney Mobile

San Rafael, Calif. - Autodesk announced on Wednesday that its technology will power a forthcoming "family locator" feature on the Disney Mobile wireless service. The technology will allow parents to locate their children's cell phones using GPS technology. Launching in June, the Disney Mobile service will also allow parents to set spending allowances, and track usage of voice minutes and text messages; set hourly and time of day restrictions on phone usage; program restricted and always-on phone numbers; and prioritize important family messages.

orth Hollywood, Calif. -- Walt Disney Internet Group on Monday announced an agreement with wireless network operator Vodafone, to provide Disney Mobile services to Vodafone customers in 14 international markets. Disney-branded content -- based on both live-action and animated properties -- including logos, wallpapers, animated wallpapers and mobile games will now be available to Vodafone subscribers in Australia; Egypt; Germany; Greece; Hungary; Ireland; Italy; Malta; The Netherlands; New Zealand; Portugal; Spain; Sweden and Switzerland.
