Orlando, Fla. - Rockstartup.com on Monday introduced its Web reality series that follows the development of a start-up Internet company, PayPerPost.com. The site will post eight-minute, documentary-style webisodes each week on the venture, which links advertisers with freelance bloggers who will hire themselves out to promote products and services via online social networks.

AOL to Offer Free, On-Demand Breast Cancer Documentary

New York - AOL said on Wednesday that the documentary feature film "The Breast Cancer Diaries" has been made available for free on-demand from AOL's AIM Pages service, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The film will be accompanied by a blog authored by the film's subject, Murray Paige, featuring video interviews and a place where visitors can share stories and experiences with breast cancer.

MTV to Air Season Finale of "Two-A-Days" Exclusively on MTV.com

MTV Two-a-DaysNew York - MTV on Friday announced plans to for the first time broadcast the season finale of a series exclusively on MTV.com. The second season finale of "Two-A-Days," a documentary series about high school football, will premiere on MTV.com immediately following the conclusion of the on-air broadcast of the next-to-last episode on MTV on Oct. 11. MTV said every episode of the series has been viewed more than 500,000 times on MTV.com.

WashingtonPost.com Wins New Media Emmy for Katrina Documentary

Arlington, Va. - Washingtonpost.com said on Tuesday that its coverage of Hurricane Katrina has won the first national Emmy award for original video journalism created specifically for new media. Senior videojournalist Travis Fox, producer of the Katrina series, accepted the award at a ceremony on Monday in New York. Other nominees included Web documentaries produced by nytimes.com, mtv.com and nationalgeographic.com.

HBO Offers Global Warming Documentary for Free on iTunes

New York - Time Warner's HBO said on Monday that it has made its original global warming documentary film "Too Hot Not to Handle" available in its entirety as a free podcast. The film is downloadable in four parts from Apple's iTunes Store and from HBO's website.

Los Angeles - Social networking site MySpace on Thursday announced that it has created a marketing campaign for former Vice President Al Gore's global warming documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," that it calls its "broadest effort…undertaken on behalf of a social cause."

Danny DeVito, ClickStar to Launch Broadband Documentary Channel

Santa Monica, Calif. - ClickStar, a broadband entertainment service whose backers include actor Morgan Freeman and Intel, has announced that actor Danny DeVito will launch Jersey Docs, a ClickStar channel featuring documentaries from around the world. "These stories never get seen. They go on the circuit, but I always have to go hunting for them," DeVito told The Hollywood Reporter. "We're going to democratize documentaries for the people… Whether they're globally or sociologically or politically motivated, we all love comedy and drama, but the human experience has all that and more." While DeVito will provide artistic direction, ClickStar will handle all aspects of documentary acquisition and distribution for Jersey Docs, which will enable users with Intel Viiv-based PCs to watch the films on their home televisions.
