San Francisco - RCRD LBL, a new online record label co-founded by Peter Rojas, founder of technology blogs Engadget and Gizmodo, and Downtown Records head Josh Deutsch -- this week announced its launch and the release of its first DRM-free, exclusive MP3s from artist and label partners.

New York - Peter Rojas, the Internet entrepreneur who founded gadget blog Engadget, has partnered with independent label Downtown Records to create an online-only record label that will give away all its music, and generate revenue through ads and sponsorships, the New York Post reported. Slated for launch in the fall the "RCRD LBL" venture plans to offer music for free -- from artists like Downtown's Gnarls Barkley and Cold War Kids -- on a blog that will offer "highly targeted sponsorship opportunities."
