Washington - The
Entertainment Software Association (ESA), a trade group of U.S. video game
developers and publishers, announced on Thursday that, despite the economic
downturn, it has already sold 90% of the exhibition space available for the
upcoming E3 Expo.

Los Angeles -- A group of journalists from 33 media organizations has named its top video game picks from last month's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), with Maxis/Electronic Arts' "Spore" taking Best of Show at the 2005 Game Critics Awards. The event was broadcast for the first time this year on Spike TV. EA's "Spore," developed by "Sims" creator Will Wright, also took the awards for Best Original Game, Best PC Game and Best Simulation Game. Other winners included Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess," which was recognized as Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game, as well as its "Nintendogs" title for the DS, which won Best Handheld Game. Monolith/Vivendi Universal's "F.E.A.R." was named Best Action Game, while Digital Illusions/Electronic Arts' "Battlefield 2" won for Best Online Multiplayer title, and Namco's "We Love Katamari" took home the award for Best Puzzle/Trivia/Parlor Game. Redmond, Wash. -- Microsoft on Wednesday announced the games for Windows PCs it plans to preview at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo. In addition to new game titles, the company plans to show a prototype of a universal gaming controller that will be compatible with both PCs and the next-generation Xbox console. Titles developed by Microsoft Game Studios will include "Age of Empires III," "Dungeon Siege II," "Fable: The Lost Chapters," "Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends," "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes," "Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species" and "Catan Online," MSN Games' online subscription version of the board game "The Settlers of Catan." Microsoft said it will also offer demos of a number of other developers' titles for Windows-based PCs at its Games for Windows booth at E3.

Redwood City, Calif. -- Video game developer Electronic Arts on Thursday announced the slate of titles it plans to preview at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo video game convention in Los Angeles. The company announced its support for Sony's new PSP portable gaming device, pledging to deliver four titles at launch and 10-12 more within the year. EA's successful sports games division will show the 2005 editions of franchises including Madden NFL, FIFA Soccer, NBA Live, NASCAR, NCAA Football, NCAA March Madness, NHL and Tiger Woods PGA Tour. EA will showcase 12 other titles under its EA Games brand, including "GoldenEye: Rogue Agent," Battlefield 2," "Catwoman," "Def Jam Fight for NY," "Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban" and "The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth." The company's EA Partners division will also display three titles that EA is co-publishing with other companies.

Los Angeles -- Organizers of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the video game industry's annual convention in Los Angeles, on Thursday announced a call for entries for its first exhibit of video and computer game art, dubbed "Into the Pixel." The exhibit is a joint project of the E3 Expo, The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, and The Graphic Arts Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Art submissions must be taken from published, or soon to be published, computer and video games, and will be curated by interactive entertainment industry art veterans and experts from the traditional art field. The deadline for submissions is April 15; the E3 Expo runs May 11-14.

San Francisco -- Sega of America on Monday announced the slate of games it will feature at next month's Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3) video game industry convention in Los Angeles. A new Sonic the Hedgehog title, "Sonic Heroes," will debut for all consoles, as well as "Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg" for GameCube, developed by Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka. Sega Sports titles for PlayStation 2 and Xbox will include "NFL 2K4," NBA 2K4," "NHL 2K4" and "NCAA College Basketball 2K4." Other titles showcased will include "Vectorman," "Headhunter: Redemption," "Altered Beast," "Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution Greatest Hits," "Virtual On Marz," "Dororo" and "Kunoichi" for PlayStation 2; "Otogi - Myth of Demons" and "Sega GT Online" for Xbox; "Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution" and "Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut" for Nintendo GameCube; and "Sonic Pinball Party" and "Sonic Battle" for Nintendo Game Boy Advance.
