Is Major League Gaming For Real? $1 Million in Prize Money Says Yes

MLG Logo 2 Anyone doubting the legitimacy of professional video gaming should look no further than the dollar figure Major League Gaming will hand out this season.  The 2007 Boost Mobile MLG Pro Circuit begins next weekend in Charlotte with $1 million in prize money at stake.  Not that it should come as much of a surprise for a league that already pays its players so well.  In an exclusive interview with DMW in February, CEO Mike Sepso said, “There are already 12 players who have $1 million contracts.”

Mike Sepso MLG Professional video gaming is exploding, and Major League Gaming (MLG) is positioned to take full advantage.  The company just announced partnerships with Endeavor, a Hollywood talent agency, and Tony Krantz’s Flame Ventures to develop its television properties and expand the viewing experience beyond the tournaments.  Professional video gamers will soon become household names in the $30 billion industry, and MLG expects to be the league that takes them there.  The race to be the undisputed elite professional video gaming league is alive and healthy, and MLG believes it’s winning.  I interviewed Mike Sepso, CEO of MLG, to discuss the company’s foundation, its position in the market, and its future.
