De Mol's TalpaCreative.com Seeks Reality TV Show Ideas

Los Angeles - Dutch media tycoon John de Mol's Talpa Media Group on Monday announced the launch of TalpaCreative.com, a site where TV fans can create and sell original non-scripted TV show ideas. The best ideas will be developed by del Mol and his team and may be produced and distributed internationally by Talpa Media Group and Endemol, whose previous productions include "Big Brother," "Fear Factor" and "Deal or No Deal."

KicksApps to Power Social Media for Endemol/BBC's "Upstaged"

New York - KickApps, a provider of on-demand social media technology, said on Wednesday that it will power the online community functions for "Upstaged," a new multi-platform reality TV show from Endemol that will air on the BBC in the U.K. The show will see amateurs submit audition videos of their particular talent, with the best then chosen to face off head-to-head with the goal of entertaining a live audience. Viewers will then vote on these competitions and eventually choose an overall champion.

No other TV show ranks as high internationally in Yahoo searches as "Pinoy Big Brother," the Phillipine version of the reality TV franchise (the word Pinoy is a colloquial term for Filipino). When it premiered this week, buzz on an already strong presence rose an impressive 282%. Yahoo Buzz points out that the online popularity of Pinoy Big Brother is a welcome reminder for us that buzz isn't always sitting in our backyard. But there are more conclusions that can be drawn from the search stats.

London - Spanish telecom Telefonica has sold its stake in the Dutch TV production company Endemol ("Big Brother," "Deal or No Deal") to a group led by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi's Mediaset, and Endemol founder John de Mol, in a deal valued at $4.6 billion, the Financial Times reported.

Cannes, France - Video game publisher Electronic Arts announced on Monday that it has partnered with TV producer Endemol on Virtual Me, a project that will combine avatar creation technology with Endemol's reality TV shows and launch a variety of online competitions.

INgrooves to Release Digital Single for MySpace Favorite Tila Tequila

Los Angeles - Tila Tequila, a young, female Asian rap artist who counts over 1.6 million friends and half a billion page views on MySpace, has signed a deal with digital label INgrooves and video producer Endemol to offer her debut single and music video as an independent, digital-only global release. The single for "I Love U," produced by Lil' Jon, and music video will packaged together as a 99 cent download made available exclusively on iTunes until March 13. The music video has already been available worldwide through mobile phone carriers since Feb. 14, with Sprint offering the exclusive download in the U.S.

John De Mol - TalpaThe Dutch Media Mogul John De Mol, who in 1994 founded the television production company Endemol, best known for the Big Brother format, wants to buy the company back from Spanish telecom giant Telefonica, to which he sold it a few years ago. He is also interested in an acquisition of Scandinavian Broadcasting System (SBS).

Malibu, Calif. - Toymaker Jakks Pacific announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement with TV production company Endemol USA for the rights to create a plug-and-play video game system based on the NBC game show "Deal or No Deal." The $19 device is slated for release in the spring of 2007.

TBS, Endemol to Debut Interactive TV Call-in Quiz Show

Atlanta - Time Warner's TBS network announced on Wednesday that it plans to launch an interactive TV quiz show from TV production company Endemol USA ("Deal or No Deal," Big Brother"), that viewers can participate in via phone, text-message or online. Premiering on Aug. 28, the two-hour "Midnight Money Madness" program will air at midnight Monday through Thursday, with separate versions produced for the East and West Coasts. The show will feature two emcees and no in-studio audience, with games interspersed with man-on-the-street segments and comedian drop-ins. Viewers can register their phone numbers for a chance to be called and play live on the air. Those who register will receive show-branded entertainment on their phones throughout the broadcast. Netherlands-based Endemol has been producing similar "Call TV" genre interactive TV shows for 10 years in 22 other countries; this is the company's first such production in the U.S.
