San Francisco - Video game developer LucasArts announced that its upcoming "Indiana Jones" game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will utilize the Euphoria behavioral simulation engine developed by NaturalMotion. The game will be on display at next month's Electronic Entertainment Expo, and is scheduled for release in 2007.

Burlingame, Calif. - MeeVee, a developer of personalized TV search engine technology, announced on Monday that it has been granted two patents for its television search technology. The company said the new patents cover its method of tagging video content with descriptive metadata and searching the metadata to identify television programs, program segments and video content of interest to viewers.

Phoenix, Ariz. - Riya, a developer of photo search engine technology, announced on Monday that it plans to launch a public beta test of its service in the first quarter of 2005.
The company said the search engine uses proprietary face recognition technology, text recognition technology and other elements to scan a library of photographs and automatically generate tags based on their contents. Riya also lets users search a public collection of photos, and share photo collections with friends. Based in Redwood Shores, Calif., Riya has so far raised $19.5 million in venture capital from a group led by Bay Partners. New York - Atari on Tuesday shipped its "The Matrix: Path of Neo" title for Xbox and the PC to retailers. Developed by Atari's Shiny Entertainment studio in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and the Wachowski brothers -- creators of the film trilogy -- the game is a sequel to Atari's multi-million-unit selling "Enter the Matrix." Separately, the company said it has licensed the Unreal Engine 3 video game physics engine from Epic Games, for use in the creation of games for next-generation consoles. The game engine has been used in titles including "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell," "Deus Ex" and "America's Army: Special Forces."

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Online retail giant Amazon.com has launched a test of a new search engine service, aiming to compete with search leaders like Google and Yahoo. A9.com is an independent unit of Amazon that has for months been quietly working on the service, which uses Google-powered technology and lets users store search results and control how they are displayed on the page, as well as view content within Amazon-listed book titles related to their search queries. A9.com also allows users to search simply by attaching their search terms to the end of the URL they type into a browser's address bar (i.e. "http://www.a9.com/query").
