- Digital entertainment studio EQAL, creators of the "lonelygirl15"
series, has halted development and funding of its own series in favor of
producing content for brand partners, PaidContent reports. The company will
instead work on Web content for CBS' "Harpers Island,"
a new project with Food Network involving Paula Deen called "Get Cookin',"
and projects with "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker and actress Alician
Silverstone.

and digital production studio EQAL on Wednesday launched HarpersGlobe.com, the
companion website to the forthcoming CBS series "Harper's Island." The "social show" on the site
lets fans interact by viewing weekly original episodes that complement the
broadcast storyline of the show, about a girl hired to digitize the archives
and create a social network for the local newspaper on the fictional Harper's Island.

The creators of the web video hit Lonelygirl15 have formed the social entertainment company EQAL and raised $5 million in venture capital. Now they are back with a follow-up to their hit Lonelygirl15 called "LG15: The Resistance," set to premiere September 20. Kelsey Blodget of BeetTV has done an interesting internet video interview with EQAL CEO Miles Beckett, which I embedded above. Say what you want about these guys and the hype around Lonelygirl15, but they are creative and have found a unique method of storytelling that seems to work well on the Internet. Los Angeles - EQAL, the digital production studio founded by the creators of Web series "Lonelygirl15," on Wednesday announced plans to debut "LG15: The Resistance," a follow-up to the series that will feature characters from the original including Sarah and Jonas. Set to premiere on LG15.com on Sept. 20 and run for 12 weeks, the online episodes will also by syndicated across MySpace TV, imeem, Veoh, YouTube and Hulu.
