Blizzard Delays "World of Warcraft" Expansion Pack to January

Irvine, Calif. - Vivendi Games' Blizzard Entertainment unit announced on Tuesday that it will delay the release of an anticipated expansion pack for its top-selling PC online multiplayer game "World of Warcraft" until January, missing the key holiday sales period. Irvine, Calif.-based Blizzard began closed-beta testing on "World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade" earlier this month. "By adding a few extra weeks to the development cycle beyond its original target date, Blizzard will be able to extend the closed beta test and further refine the new content that will ship with the game," the company said in a statement. "World of Warcraft" currently claims over 6.5 million subscribers.

2K Games Ships "Dungeon Siege II" PC Expansion Pack

New York - 2K Games, a unit of publisher Take-Two Interactive, on Friday shipped its "Broken World" expansion pack for the PC roleplaying game "Dungeon Siege II" to retailers. The pack was developed by Gas Powered Games.

Electronic Announces Development of "The Sims 2 Pets," LOTR Expansion

Redwood City, Calif. - Electronic Arts on Thursday announced plans for "The Sims 2 Pets," an expansion pack for its PC game that will also be released for current generation console and handheld platforms.

NCsoft Releases Free Expansion Packs for "City of Heroes," "City of Villains"

Austin, Texas - Korean online game developer NCsoft's U.S. unit on Wednesday announced the U.S. and European releases of expansion packs for its "City of Heroes" and "City of Villains" massively multiplayer online games.

Activision Releases Expansion Pack for "The Movies" PC Game

Santa Monica, Calif. - Activision announced on Tuesday the release of "The Movies: Stunts & Effects Expansion Pack," an add-on for developer Lionhead Studios' PC game that lets players become Hollywood movie studio executives.
