Fox Interactive Media (FIM), the home of MySpace, Fox Sports, Fox News and other sites, definitely has local on its agenda and is rolling out several new features to bring users more in touch with their communities, said Dan Strauss, VP and General Manager, who was speaking on a panel at the NAA Marketing Conference in Las Vegas.

Gemstar-TV Guide Licenses Program Listing to Fox Sites

Los Angeles - Gemstar-TV Guide International, a provider of electronic program guides for digital TV services, announced on Monday that it has signed agreements to syndicate its program listings to Fox Interactive Media's FoxSports.com and IGN Entertainment, and expand its deal with Fox Television Stations. The agreements allow Fox to use Gemstar's program guides on its websites and mobile portals.

Universal Music Group Sues MySpace for Copyright Infringement

Santa Monica, Calif. - Major record label Universal Music Group has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against News Corporation's MySpace, seeking $150,000 in damages for each instance where Universal's copyrighted songs or videos were posted on the online social network.

Andrew Baer joins Comcast Cable as its Chief Information Officer. Baer will be responsible for developing Comcast's internal Information Technology strategy. He will also oversee the integration of the IT organizations in former Timer warner and Adelphia Cable systems. Baer will report to Dave Scott, ECP of Finance and Administration.

Fox's IGN Launches Movie, TV Downloads on Direct2Drive Store

Los Angeles - Fox Interactive Media's IGN video game site announced on Wednesday that it has added movies, TV shows and anime to its Direct2Drive digital download store.

The store announced multi-year agreements with 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, Starz Media and Central Park Media, which will bring movies like "X-Men: The Last Stand," "Saw 2" and "Ghost in the Shell" to Direct2Drive.

San Jose, Calif. - Fox Interactive Media chief operating officer Mark Jung quietly stepped down earlier this week, the San Jose Mercury News reported. Jung, who had been in the position for just nine months, also co-founded and was CEO of IGN Entertainment, a games company acquired by Fox Interactive Media prior to its MySpace purchase.

Fourth Season of Fox's "The O.C." to Debut on MySpace

Los Angeles - Fox announced on Tuesday that it will debut the first two episodes from the fourth season of "The O.C." on its MySpace social network and a selection of local Fox affiliate websites. The first episode will begin streaming on Thursday, a week in advance of its broadcast premiere on Nov. 2, from MySpace and 24 local Fox TV websites. Both episodes will be available for free, supported by ads, through Fox's Full Throttle video player for a week following their TV broadcasts.

AOL veteran Mike Rich has been named to the position of Vice President/General Manager, AOL Music, AOL Radio, Moviefone.com and AOL Television beginning this week. In this role, Rich will be responsible for the programming, products and overall business strategies for these four central entertainment websites. He will report to Bill Wilson, Senior Vice President, Programming, and will continue to be based in New York. Most recently as Vice President, AOL Programming Products and Operations, Rich led the efforts to enhance AOL’s publishing platforms enabling and broadening AOL’s Web 2.0 programming experiences.

24First Disney, now News Corp. For those of you who missed it, Fox just revealed they are going to sell their movies and TV shows online, but not on iTunes. News Corp. will use their own distribution channels through Fox Interactive Media (FIM), including utilizing the vastly popular website MySpace.com. This is good news for the industry since it limits Apple Computer’s virtual distribution monopoly on paid digital content via its iTunes music and video download site. But the question is if the majority of kids using MySpace will pay $19.99 to download a movie or $1.99 for a TV episode just because they can?
