T-Mobile, Orange to Merge U.K. Operations

London - Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom announced on Tuesday that they will merge their T-Mobile UK and Orange UK units, respectively, into a new joint venture that will have a combined customer base of 28.4 million, or 37% of all U.K. mobile subscribers.

Paris - Apple and France Telecom are at odds over the percentage of service revenues the Orange mobile network would pay to Apple for the right to distribute the iPhone in France, possibly jeopardizing the device's launch there in time for the holidays, Reuters reported, citing an article on the website of French business magazine Challenges.
