Mountain View, Calif. - Podbridge, a provider of targeted ad delivery technology for podcasts, on Thursday announced the launch of its service. The company's founder and CEO, Murgesh Navar, told VentureWire that it has raised between $10 and $12 million in venture capital funding, from Mayfield Fund and Worldview Technology Partners. Podbridge said it has already partnered with the BBC, Military.com and several Clear Channel radio stations, which will be able to track ad listens, place ads by demographic and location, rotate multiple ads and manage budgets. "For podcasting to become a mainstream media, it needs a business model to encourage content providers," said Navar. "We aim to help our content partners generate revenue by providing the insight and accountability needed to attract advertisers." The company added that Ronning Lipset Radio has signed on to be its exclusive third-party agent, charged with selling audio spots on the Podbridge network.

Kodime said it would use the funds to expand its operations and grow sales. Columbia, Md. - IBiquity Digital, a developer of digital radio broadcasting technology, announced on Monday that it has received an undisclosed investment from Intel Capital. Founded in 1998, Maryland-based iBiquity has to date raised over $145 million in financial backing for its HD Radio technology, which allows radio stations to transmit a digital signal alongside their analog broadcasts. Over 500 U.S. stations are now broadcasting using HD Radio, and radio firms including Clear Channel and Infinity Broadcasting have committed to using the technology. The company said it would use the funds to accelerate the roll-out of commercial HD Radio receivers, as well as for development of portable receivers -- especially HD Radio for cell phones and digital media players.

San Francisco -- Feedster, a San Francisco-based Internet search engine and advertising network for blogs and RSS feeds, said on Thursday that it has raised an undisclosed amount in its first round of funding. The company said that it will use the money to accelerate development and marketing, as well as "greatly expand" its server infrastructure. Selby Venture Partners led the round, with participation from Omidyar Network, members of the New York Angels and other prominent angel investors. Feedster’s angel investors include Kevin Hartz, the co-founder of Xoom; Joe Kraus, the co-founder of Excite and Jotspot; Josh Kopelman, the founder of Half.com; Scott Kurnit, the founder of About.com; Mark Pincus, the founder of Tribe.net and Support.com; and Narendra Rocherolle, the founder of Webshots.

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Nokia Venture Partners, the cell phone maker's venture capital firm focused on early stage companies in the IT, mobile and consumer electronics markets, said on Monday that it has changed its name to BlueRun Ventures and made the first close on a new $350 million fund. The firm said that it plans to make another close on the fund, its third, before mid-year. BlueRun said that it plans to take part mostly in early rounds, with initial investments ranging from $2-$8 million. The firm now has about $1 billion under management.

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Looking to further its efforts to converge personal computers and consumer electronics devices, Intel on Wednesday unveiled plans to create a $200 million fund that will invest in companies developing hardware and software technologies for the digital home. John Miner, the president of Intel Capital, said that the Intel Digital Home Fund is designed to "complement Intel products and accelerate development of key technologies and content which enhance and simplify the digital home experience." The new fund will invest in companies developing hardware and software, as well as connectivity and supporting technologies. Intel is hoping to cash in on wireless home networking, which will allow people to view and listen to digital content -- including music, photos and video -- on multiple networked devices.

Seattle -- Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Paul Allen announced that he will fund the creation of a $20 million non-profit Science Fiction Museum, to be housed in the Experience Music Project building in Seattle, which Allen also helped to fund. The museum, scheduled to open in June 2004, will play host to exhibits that feature books, artwork and props from memorable science fiction franchises like "Star Trek," as well as a hall of fame for science fiction creators.
