Liberty Media to Spin Off Entertainment Business

Englewood, Colo. - Liberty Media (NASD: LINTA) announced on Wednesday that it plans to split off its Liberty Entertainment group, which includes the company's stakes in DirecTV, Starz, FUN Technologies, GSN, WildBlue Communications and Liberty Sports, into a separate public company.

Toronto - John Malone's Liberty Media (NASD: LINTA) said on Friday that it will acquire Toronto-based FUN Technologies, a provider of online casual and fantasy sports games and sports information, in a deal valued at about $94 million.

Toronto - FUN Technologies, a developer of online casual and fantasy sports games and sports information, said on Friday that John Malone's Liberty Media has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding shares it doesn't already own, for about $3.57 per share.

Toronto - Toronto-based FUN Technologies and London-based King.com, two providers of online skill-based games, on Thursday announced the formation of a trade group called the Interactive Skill Games Association (ISGA). The group named Harlan W. Goodson, former director of the California Division of Gambling Control within the California Department of Justice, as its president. "Through the creation of this new association, it is our goal to develop a code of conduct and best practices for the skill games industry, to which we hope member operators will voluntarily adhere without the need for government intervention," said FUN Technologies CEO Lorne Abony.

WorldWinner Extends Skill-Based Online Games Deal with AOL

Toronto, Canada - FUN Technologies announced on Thursday that its WorldWinner unit has renewed an agreement with AOL, to provide skill-based cash and prize tournaments on AOL Games and Games.com. Under the deal, Toronto-based WorldWinner will develop a co-branded site where AOL players can compete against each other, and others in the WorldWinner network in games like "Scrabble," "Luxor" and "Bejeweled 2."

Los Angeles - Casual online game publisher FUN Technologies announced on Monday that it partnered with Comcast's GSN cable TV network to televise its first annual million-dollar Worldwide Web Games championship. The online games will be hosted by SkillJam.com and WorldWinner.com, while the championship will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood.
