New York - Time Warner's (NYSE: TWX) Turner Broadcasting announced on Wednesday that it is unloading its GameTap subscription-based broadband games and entertainment service, which will merge with French games distributor Metaboli, with Turner becoming an equity investor in the combined entity.

New York - Media conglomerate Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) disclosed in its quarterly report that it now plans to sell off Turner Broadcasting's GameTap broadband video games service, a decision the company said in the report will cost it $18 million.

Atlanta - Turner Broadcasting's GameTap broadband games and entertainment service announced on Monday the launch of a new free, ad-supported version of the service it will make available to users beyond North America. The free version of GameTap will feature a rotating sample of the service's library of more than 900 game titles, as well as access to hundreds of GameTap TV streaming videos. Subscribers in the U.S. and Canada receive ad-free, full access to all of the service's titles.

Atlanta - Turner Broadcasting announced on Tuesday that it will introduce new features at its GameTap subscription-based broadband games and entertainment site, to include the ability for subscribers to begin playing games on the same day they become available for sale at retail, or purchase them outright directly from GameTap. The first such "day-and-date" title available on GameTap will be Eidos' "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary." The service will also launch a rotating selection of free, ad-supported games. GameTap said its subscribers played more than 20 million games in 2006, or more than 54,000 per day.

Atlanta - GameTap, the broadband games and entertainment subscription service from Turner Broadcasting, said on Wednesday that it will launch developer Cyan Worlds' "Myst Online: Uru Live" game on Thursday. The latest installment in the franchise will combine massively multiplayer online game elements with the game's traditional mystery and problem-solving facets.
