Massive CEO, Mitch Davis, and President of New Media, Nichola Longano, will both leave the in-game ads specialist this month. The company was bought by Microsoft in May of 2006 to bring ads to the Xbox 360, and apply Massive technology to services such as Windows Live and MSN. Neither company would comment for The Journal's story. New York-based Massive spent three years developing its technology, which allows advertisers to insert virtual billboards and other elements directly into video games. The company has partnered with video game developers and publishers including THQ, Atari, 2K Sports, Ubisoft, Konami, Sony Online Entertainment and Vivendi Universal Games. Massive's advertising clients have included Coca-Cola and Honda.

Agoura Hills, Calif. - Video game publisher THQ announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement with Massive Incorporated, to integrate a number of THQ game titles into Massive's in-game advertising network. Massive delivers in-game ads to more than 100 game titles from 29 game publishers. Separately, Agoura Hills, Calif.-based THQ said that it has launched a new "cross-save" feature, which will reward consumers who own more than one of its Nickelodeon game titles for PlayStation 2. When a Memory Card detects more than one of the titles -- which include "Tak: The Great Juju Challenge," "SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera PANTS!," "Nicktoons Unite!" and "Barnyard" -- bonus content across all titles will be unlocked for the player.

New York -- Massive Incorporated, a developer of online video gaming software, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $2.1 million, in a round of venture capital financing led by Tobat Capital and Newlight Associates. The company's software allows video game publishers and developers to create new revenue streams and reduce game development costs by offering in-game advertising for online games developed for the PC, and other online-capable platforms like the Xbox and PlayStation 2. New York-based Massive will use the capital to expand research and development of its ad server that enables real-time rendering of advertisements in online games, and to market its latest game development tool, the Massive Test Box.
