New York - Microsoft announced that Toru Iwatani, the Namco game developer who originally created "Pac-Man," has designed the first new mazes for the game in 26 years, for a new version of the classic title for Xbox 360 called "Pac-Man Championship Edition." International teams competed in a Quiznos-sponsored tournament featuring the new game in New York last night, in advance of the game's availability for purchase and download from Xbox Live Arcade today.  It was only a matter of time, wasn’t it? Steve Jobs knows the playing field better than anyone, and the writing has been on the wall for quite some time. Early reports indicate that Apple will partner with Electronic Arts (EA) and Namco to create casual games exclusive to the iPhone and AppleTV. No official announcement has been made.

Santa Clara, Calif. - Japanese video game publisher Namco Bandai on Tuesday announced its full lineup of titles that will be on display at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo. The will include new installments of existing franchises, such as "Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra," "Tales of the Abyss," "Pac-Man World Rally," "Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception," "Tekken: Dark Resurrection," "The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch" and "Mobile Ops: The One Year War." New PC titles will include "Mage Knight Apocalypse," "Warhammer: Mark of Chaos" and "Hellgate: London". Namco Bandai will also showcase new license titles such as "The Fast and the Furious," "Snoopy vs. The Red Baron" and "Charlie Brown's All-Stars," and anime-based titles "Naruto: Ultimate Ninja," "Zatchbell!: Mamodo Fury," ".hack//G.U. Vol.1: Rebirth," "IGPX," "One Piece: Grand Adventure" and "Eureka Seven Vol. 1: The New Wave."

Santa Clara, Calif. - Namco Bandai Games America, the U.S. arm of the Japanese video game publisher, on Monday announced the lineup of upcoming titles for next-generation consoles it will display at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this month. The company said it plans to publish "Tekken 6" and "Ridge Racer 7" for PlayStation 3, in addition to "Mobile Ops: The One Year War" and "Culdcept Saga" for Xbox 360.

San Jose, Calif. -- Japanese video game publisher Namco announced on Monday that it has reached an out-of-court settlement with major record label Sony BMG, over the alleged use of sound effects from Namco's "Pac-Man" game in a song by Sony artist Lil' Flip. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but the agreement will result in the dismissal of copyright infringement claims brought by Namco against Sony BMG in federal court in New York. The song in question is Lil' Flip's "Game Over," from his 2004 album, "U Gotta Feel Me." "Namco and Sony BMG are pleased to have resolved this matter and we look forward to continuing our business relationship in the spirit of our mutual respect for intellectual property," the companies said in a joint statement.
