Los Angeles - Nintendo may not develop any future versions of its popular Game Boy Advance handheld device, the company's president remarked in an interview with Reuters, citing the success of the company's new DS handheld. The company's Game Boy Advance line has sold over 74 million units worldwide since December 2005. "I would have a second thought about using our resources on what would be the next generation of Game Boy Advance, considering the strong support DS is now enjoying," Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told Reuters. The DS has so far sold 16 million units in the U.S. "The Japanese game market is now evolving around DS. We don't need to do something that will pour cold water on the situation," Iwata added. Nintendo plans to integrate the DS with its next-generation Wii console, enabling content to be shuttled back and forth between the handheld and the console, which is slated to ship in the fourth quarter.
