Submissions Sought for 10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards

Calabasas, Calif. - The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) announced on Thursday that it is now accepting submissions for the 10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, which recognize exceptional video games and developers. Past recipients have included developers Richard Garriott, Sid Meier and Wil Wright, and games such as "Civilization IV," "God of War" and "Guitar Hero." The AIAS is accepting submissions at Interactive.org through Dec. 8, 2006, with an awards ceremony hosted by comedian Jay Mohr to be held in Las Vegas in February.

Nintendo Wii, EA's "Spore" Take Top Honors at Game Critics Awards

Los Angeles - Nintendo's next-generation Wii video game console and "Sims" developer Will Wright's forthcoming game "Spore" for Electronic Arts took top honors in the Game Critics Awards, where video game journalists and editors recognized the best products from the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo.

GameSpot Names E3 2006 People's Choice Awards

Los Angeles - CNET Networks' GameSpot gaming portal on Thursday announced winners of its Second Annual GameSpot E3 2006 People's Choice Awards. The awards are based on the opinions of millions of gamers who visited GameSpot websites covering the video game industry convention on its opening day. The 20 most-anticipated games announced at this year's E3 include Microsoft's "Halo 3," Electronic Arts' "Spore," designed by "Sims" creator Wil Wright, and Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess".
