New York - Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) and partner Getty Images on Tuesday launched the new Life.com, an online incarnation of the now-defunct LIFE photo magazine. Life.com will allow users to view 7 million images and share them on Facebook, Flickr and other sites, print copies, and license usage rights from Getty Images. Users can also create custom print magazines and books featuring the images, ranging in cost from $6 to $89.

New York - Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz has partnered on a "special multi-assignment collaboration" with Orchard Represents by Getty Images. "The addition of Leibovitz's name and talent to Orchard Represents further enhances Getty Images' trademark offering of the world's best photography, and roster of elite photographers available for commission photography," the company said.

Getty Images to Shutter Scoopt Citizen Journalism Service

Glasgow, Scotland - Online photo agency Getty Images has decided to shutter Scoopt, a citizen journalism site it acquired in 2007, PaidContent reported. The service, which offered a cut of profits from user-uploaded photos sold to news agencies, will cease accepting submissions on Friday, and close down entirely by March 6.

Getty Images Introduces New Music Licensing Service

Seattle - Online photography licensing service Getty Images has launched a new online music licensing service that will offer tracks to producers and advertisers for use in their productions, Billboard reports. The Premium Playlist service at launch includes over 1,000 songs, from artists including Norah Jones and Barenaked Ladies, via deals with Warner/Chappell, Koch, Cherry Lane, Kobalt, Red Light Management, Lionsgate and Nettwerk. Getty Images acquired Web-based music licensor Pump Audio for $42 million last June, and introduced a service based on Pump's called Soundtrack last October that now offers 100,000 independent label tracks.

New York - Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) has partnered with photography archive Getty Images to form a joint venture, See Your World, that will resurrect Life magazine online in the first quarter of 2009, PaidContent reported. The mainly ad-supported site is expected to launch with 6 million photos, and eventually add up to 15 million.

Revenue from advertising appearing on sites where the content is syndicated will be split between the copyright holder, website syndicating the content, and Mochila.

Lulu.com Users Can Include Getty Images in Digital Content Creations

Raleigh, N.C. - Lulu.com, an online marketplace for user-generated digital content, announced on Thursday an agreement with online photo agency Getty Images. Under the deal, authors, creators and organizations will have access to select Getty content to enhance and monetize their original works. When an item containing a licensed Getty image is sold at Lulu.com, the usage fee will be included in the selling price. North Carolina-based Lulu.com claims one million registered members in 80 countries that have published over 200,000 titles.
