GigaMedia Invests in Korean Developers XLGames, Neostorm

Taipei, Taiwan - GigaMedia, a Taiwan-based developer and publisher of online games, announced this week that it has invested in two Korean game developers, XLGames and Neostorm.

GigaMedia Limited today announced the appointment of Thomas Hui as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company with immediate effect. Mr. Hui has served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Company for the past three years -- and will continue to oversee the Company's financial functions in an interim capacity until the appointment of his replacement.

GigaMedia Licenses Sega's "Phantasy Star Universe" MMOG

Taipei, Taiwan - GigaMedia, an operator of online games in Asia, said on Wednesday that it has acquired a license from Japan's Sega to operate the massively multiplayer online game "Phantasy Star Universe" in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The previous installment in the franchise was a top-seller in Japan; the forthcoming version is slated to launch in late 2007.

GigaMedia Makes $15 Investment in Chinese Online Games Firm T2CN

Shanghai - Online entertainment distributor GigaMedia announced on Monday that it has made a $15 million investment in Chinese online sports game publisher T2CN and received a minority stake in the company. T2CN claims 21 million registered users in China, who log on to play games such as "FunTown MahJong." The two companies will share revenue from T2CN's online casual games; advertisers on its portal include Coca-Cola and the NBA.

Taiwanese Broadband Entertainment Firm GigaMedia Gets Delisting Notice

Taipei, Taiwan -- GigaMedia, a provider of online and off-line entertainment services in Taiwan, announced on Thursday that it has received notice from the Nasdaq that its shares are in danger of being delisted from the exchange. The company's shares have hovered near the Nasdaq's $1 minimum for nearly a year. GigaMedia requested a hearing before the Nasdaq, but said its shares may move to the SmallCap Market. In addition to operating a broadband ISP and entertainment portal, GigaMedia also operates two of the largest record store chains in Taiwan.
