New York - Rockstar Games, a unit of video game publisher Take-Two Interactive, announced on Tuesday from the Electronic Entertainment Expo that it plans to publish "Grand Theft Auto IV," the latest installment in its top-selling game franchise, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in October 2007. In development at Rockstar North in Edinburgh, Scotland, the game will ship on Oct. 16 in North America and in Europe on Oct. 19, 2007. Rockstar and Take-Two had to recall copies of the last installment of the franchise, after it was discovered that a sexually explicit mini-game hidden in the game's source code could be unlocked with a key downloaded from the Internet. The game was given a more stringent "Adults Only" rating and removed from many retailers' shelves while the publisher readied an alternate version that removed the offensive code. Take-Two is still facing a number of class action lawsuits and an FTC probe over the matter.

New York - Rockstar Games, a unit of video game publisher Take-Two Interactive, announced on Tuesday that its "Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories" title for PlayStation 2 will ship on June 6 in North America, and in Europe and the U.K. on June 9. The latest installment in the controversial franchise has been available since October for the Sony PSP handheld. Separately, Take-Two's 2K Sports unit on Tuesday said it shipped its "Major League Baseball 2K6" and "World Poker Tour" titles for the Sony PSP handheld to retailers.
