Gracenote Inks Lyrics Licensing Deal with Harry Fox Agency

New York - The Harry Fox Agency, which handles U.S. music licensing rights, announced on Monday that it has signed a lyrics licensing deal with Sony's (NYSE: SNE) Gracenote. The terms provide Gracenote the rights to deliver digital lyrics with permanent downloads, CD playback, online subscription services, lyrics search, mobile devices and consumer devices. The Gracenote Lyrics service is currently used by customers including Pandora, MetroLyrics, MTV and Yahoo Music.

New York - RightsFLow, a provider of outsourced licensing and royalty services, has announced a mechanical licensing agreement with The Harry Fox Agency for full-length, permanent digital downloads. "Our clients look to us to provide a turnkey outsourced solution for publishing licensing and royalty administration," said RightsFlow president and CEO Patrick Sullivan. "Working with HFA is a key step that will allow us to license and account more swiftly and efficiently, allow our clients to get more product available for sale, and create a greater value for all."

New York - The Harry Fox Agency (HFA), which issues licenses and collects royalties on behalf of 35,000 music publishers, said this week that it has licensed All Access Today's Live in a Flash service, which offers concertgoers the chance to purchase a USB wristband after the show containing a copy of the performance. "To walk out of show literally wearing the songs on your wrist is a cool option and it extends the live experience beyond those 90 minutes or so on stage," said Gary Churgin, president and CEO of HFA.

Harry Fox Agency Signs New Digital Licensing Deals

New York - The Harry Fox Agency (HFA), which represents about 35,000 U.S. music publishers, said recently that it has signed new licensing deals with ringtone distributor Bullroarer, digital music store MySongStore, and the band Gov't Mule's live concert download service. MySongStore artists will now be able to sell downloads of cover songs, while Gov't Mule's site -- which has sold over one million downloads of live song performances -- will use HFA's Express Live mechanical licensing service to clear cover songs the band plays in concert.

Madison, Wisc. - Musicnotes, a retailer of digital sheet music, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired MXTabs.net, a site that features over 150,000 user-generated guitar, bass and drum tablatures, and has signed ad revenue-sharing agreements with music publishers that will allow the site to come back online.

Harry Fox Agency Licenses LyricFind to Post Song Lyrics Online

New York - The Harry Fox Agency (HFA), a U.S. music rights licensing organization, announced that it has signed a lyrics licensing agreement with LyricFind, a website that publishes song lyrics. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the terms, music publishers can participate on an opt-in basis and will be able to add, review and edit lyrics on LyricFind's database. HFA said the service will be offered to publishers on a commission-free basis, waiving its usual 6.75% cut of royalties.

New York - The Orchard, a digital distributor of independent label music, announced on Wednesday that it has entered into a licensing arrangement for full, permanent digital downloads with The Harry Fox Agency, which represents 1.5 million songs from over 28,000 music publishers for mechanical licensing within the U.S. "This licensing arrangement allows us to provide an important service to non-U.S. record labels for the mechanical licensing of U.S. digital music services," said Orchard CEO Greg Scholl. "Orchard-distributed labels can now relax knowing that their recordings are properly licensed, and that publishing royalties are accounted for and paid."

DiscLive Signs License Agreement with Harry Fox Agency

New York - The Harry Fox Agency, a provider of music mechanical rights licensing, announced on Tuesday that Immediatek's DiscLive service has entered into HFA's "Express Live" mechanical licensing agreement for CDs and permanent digital downloads. The agreement covers DiscLive's service that offers concertgoers CDs and digital downloads of performances at the venue and online immediately after the show. DiscLive has recorded performances for the Pixies, Devo and the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
