Apple Launches Latino Section on iTunes Store

Cupertino, Calif. - Apple on Wednesday announced the launch of iTunes Latino, a dedicated area within its U.S. iTunes Store that will showcase Latin music, music videos, TV shows, audiobooks and podcasts. The section will include Spanish-language TV programming from Telemundo and its Latino youth network, mun2, such as "Pasion de Gavilanes," "El Cuerpo del Deseo," "Decisiones" and "mun2: The Immigration Special."

Latin Media Firm VOY Debuts Broadband TV Network

New York - VOY, a digital media company that produces and distributes programming for the English-speaking Latino community, on Tuesday launched a broadband TV network featuring user-generated videos and sharing tools. VOY TV will be part of the company's VOY Plaza online community hub, which has grown to a unique user base of 2.6 million since launching last November.

Quepasa.com Launches Mobile Storefront

Scottsdale, Ariz. - Online Hispanic community Quepasa announced on Wednesday the launch of a mobile entertainment storefront at Quepasa.com. The site will offer more than 5,000 ringtones, wallpapers and related products initially to Cingular, AT&T and T-Mobile subscribers.

Mark Burnett, Emilio Estefan Partner on Multimedia Joint Venture

Los Angeles - Reality TV producer Mark Burnett ("Survivor," "The Apprentice") announced on Wednesday that he has formed a joint venture with music producer Emilio Estefan, to develop multimedia entertainment for the Hispanic community that will be distributed on the Internet, mobile devices and network broadcast.

Yahoo, NBC Universal, Telemundo Create Yahoo Telemundo Portal

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Yahoo announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with NBC Universal Television Group and Telemundo, to combine their U.S. Hispanic Internet properties to create a co-branded Internet business. Yahoo Telemundo will integrate Yahoo services with Telemundo content, and replace the existing Yahoo en espanol and Telemundo websites. Under the deal, Yahoo and Telemundo will merge staff and share advertising revenue.

Nielsen/NetRatings, Univision Create Hispanic Internet Audience Panel

New York -- Internet audience measurement firm Nielsen/NetRatings announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with Spanish-language media company Univision Online to create an Internet audience measurement panel to better understand Hispanic consumer behavior online. The five-year agreement will result in the creation of new Hispanic Internet audience ratings, which will be folded into the current Nielsen//NetRatings panel.
