Nielsen Sells Hollywood Reporter, Billboard to e5 Global Media

New York - Trade publisher and event producer Nielsen Business Media announced on Thursday that it has sold its media-related brands, including The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard and Adweek, to a new venture called e5 Global Media, formed by private equity firm Pluribus Capital Management and financial services firm Guggenheim Partners. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal also includes Nielsen's Brandweek, Mediaweek, Backstage and Film Journal International, as well as its Clio Awards, ShoWest, ShowEast, Cinema Expo International and CineAsia trade shows, and is expected to close by the end of the year.

Los Angeles - Nielsen is close to a deal to sell its Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Adweek and other magazines in its business media division to News Communications, James Finkelstein's company that publishes The Hill and the "Who's Who" stable of publications, TheWrap.com reported.

Los Angeles - Nielsen Business Media said on Monday that it has signed a deal with China's State Administration of Radio, Television and Film (SARFT) to distribute its content with the state-run entertainment trade publication Zong Yi. The bi-weekly Zong Yi has a circulation of 50,000.

Editorial Department Layoffs Hit The Hollywood Reporter

Los Angeles - Entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter, owned by the Nielsen Company, has laid off more than a dozen employees, the majority of whom were part of the company's editorial staff, Variety reported.

New York - Nielsen Business Media, the division of the ratings, publishing and events company that publishes titles including The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Editor & Publisher, Mediaweek and Adweek, has laid off 40-50 staffers, according to reports on Fishbowl NY and Folio.com.

New York - Nielsen Business Media, which publishes The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Adweek and Backstage, said on Thursday that it has partnered with Mdog.com to create mobile websites for its titles. The sites allow users to access breaking news, story archives, contact directories and casting notices from their mobile phones.

MovieTickets.com Adds Hollywood Reporter Film Reviews

New York - The Hollywood Reporter announced on Friday an agreement to add its movie reviews to MovieTickets.com, a site where consumers can find showtimes and purchase tickets. Film reviews will be provided by HollywoodReporter.com, which claims 1.1 million monthly visitors.
