Analysis: Cisco-Vision To Be Revealed at CES

After talking the talk for several years (and spending the dough), Cisco Systems will take its first step toward walking the consumer-electronics walk next month when it unveils a new wireless home stereo system at CES designed for streaming high-quality audio around the house. The most interesting bit of news in the New York Times report, however, may be the other home networking ideas Cisco is kicking around.

Home Entertainment Networking Software Firm Mediabolic Raises Funds

San Francisco -- Mediabolic, a provider of home entertainment networking technology, announced on Monday that it has closed on an oversubscribed round of venture capital financing for an undisclosed amount. New investor AsiaTech Management led the funding, with participation by the Intel Digital Home Fund and earlier investors Spinnaker Ventures and Aurora Ventures. San Francisco-based Mediabolic offers an embedded software platform that can connect PCs, PC peripherals, and consumer electronics products like DVD players, stereos and televisions. The company will use the funds to further expand global market penetration, application support efforts, and future product development.
