Aniboom to Develop Series Based on I-play Casual Games

San Francisco - Independent animation network Aniboom said on Monday that it has partnered with casual games publisher I-play to develop animated serial content for mobile, online and television based on I-play's most popular games. The first series in development is based on "Turbo Subs," a restaurant franchise-building game that counts millions of downloads.

Casual Games Firm Oberon Acquires I-play for About $110 Million

New York - Oberon Media, a publisher and distributor of casual games, announced on Thursday that it has acquired I-play, a developer of casual mobile games. While financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, Israel's Globes Online reported that Oberon will pay $110-120 million for London-based I-play, which was founded in 1998.

I-play to Sell Mobile Movie Clips From Universal Studios

San Mateo, Calif. - Mobile entertainment publisher I-play announced on Monday a deal with Universal Studios, to make classic movie clips available for purchase and download to mobile phones. Initially available to Sprint, Verizon, Rogers and Amp'd Mobile subscribers are clips of films like "King Kong," "The 40 Year Old-Virgin," "Animal House" and "The Breakfast Club."

Motorola Launches Motodev Game Developer Challenge

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Motorola on Tuesday announced the launch of the Motodev Game Developer Challenge, which will award two developers of mobile games publishing deals with I-play. Submissions of Java- and Windows Mobile-based games will be accepted through Aug. 10. A panel of judges from Motorola, I-play and other contest marketing allies will evaluate entries based on uniqueness, fun factor, design, operation and innovation in visual arts and audio.

GSM Association Names Winners of 12th Global Mobile Awards

Barcelona - Wireless trade group the GSM Association on Wednesday announced winners of its 12th Annual Global Mobile Awards, from its 3GSM Mobile Congress event in Barcelona, Spain. Winners included ShoZu (Most Innovative Mobile Application or Content); I-play's "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo" (Best Mobile Game); Vodafone MeinPC (Best Mobile Music Service); and Marblemedia, NFB and Bravo's "Shorts in Motion: The Art of Seduction" (Best Mobile Video Service). I-play Releases Sequel to Mobile Game Based on Fox's "24"

San Mateo, Calif. - Mobile game publisher I-play on Wednesday released its "24: Agent Down" title, based on the Fox TV drama series. The game is a sequel to I-play's BAFTA Award-winning mobile game, "24."

Universal Studios Taps I-play for Mobile Movie Clips Service

Los Angeles - Universal Studios announced on Thursday that it has partnered with mobile entertainment distributor I-play to launch a mobile video service offering clips from Universal's movie library. Launching later this year in North America, the Mobile Moments channel will include on-demand clips from films such as "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," "Animal House," "E.T." and "Sixteen Candles." I-play distributes mobile content through a network of over 120 carriers worldwide, including Sprint, Verizon and Cingular.

Karraker will be charged with overseeing all North American public relations for SCEA. London - I-play, a U.K.-based mobile entertainment publisher, announced on Tuesday that it has launched its mobile game "GoodFellas," based on the Warner Bros. mobster film. I-play has also developed mobile games based on entertainment properties including "24," "The Pink Panther," "Robocop" and "The Fast & The Furious."

London - Mobile game publisher I-play said on Wednesday that it signed a deal with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group to develop and publish a mobile game based on Universal Pictures' forthcoming film, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift". London-based I-play said its "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo" game will launch simultaneously with the film in the second quarter.

I-play Releases Official Olympics Mobile Game in Europe, North America

London - U.K. mobile game developer I-play on Friday announced the North American and European launches of its "Torino 2006: Official Mobile Phone Game of the Olympic Winter Games." The company secured the rights for the game from Sports Multimedia Ltd, the exclusive interactive entertainment licensee of the International Olympic Committee.

San Mateo, Calif. - Mobile game publisher I-play and partner Vivendi Universal Games announced on Friday the release of their mobile version of "Crash Tag Team Racing" on U.S. wireless networks. The game is based on a console title in the Crash Bandicoot franchise, developed by Sony Computer Entertainment's Naughty Dog studio.

CEO of Mobile Game Developer I-play Steps Down

London - I-play, the U.K.-based mobile game developer formerly known as Digital Bridges, announced that CEO Brian Greasley has stepped down. Greasley joined the company in 2001 from U.K.-based private-equity firm Apax Partners, which remains a majority shareholder in the company. Current chief operating officer David Gosen will take over as CEO, effective immediately. Apax and Argo, I-play's leading shareholders, have expressed their continuing commitment to the company.
