Reston, Va. - ICO Global Communications, a company developing a satellite-based service that will offer video and other programming in cars and remote locations, announced that it has reached agreements with Turner Broadcasting System to provide content from Cartoon Network and Adult Swim for use in the company's upcoming alpha trials. "Children's programming is an essential genre for any rear-seat mobile entertainment service," said Sue Hamilton, ICO's lead strategic content negotiator. The company, which plans to launch its service next year, has already reached agreements to offer content from NBC Universal and Discovery Networks. Raleigh, N.C. - ICO Global Communications, a Virginia-based provider of satellite communications services, said on Monday that it will team with Kirkland, Wash.-based broadband firm Clearwire to launch one of the industry's first mobile video trials. The joint trial is expected to begin early next year in Raleigh, N.C., with ICO also planning a similar trial in Las Vegas. Clearwire was founded in 2003 by Craig McCaw, the wireless communications pioneer behind such companies as Nextel and XO Communications. The company also is working with Sprint Nextel to build a nationwide WiMax network. |
