ZeniMax Raised $105M for id Acquisition; Names Ripken to Board

Rockville, Md. - ZeniMax Media, the parent company of game developer Bethesda Softworks, said that it raised $105 million through a debt offering to pay for last month's acquisition of id Software, the Texas-based developer of game franchises such as "Doom," "Quake" and "Wolfenstein."

Rockville, Md. - ZeniMax Media, the parent company of "Fallout" and "Elder Scolls" developer Bethesda Softworks, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired id Software, the developer of game franchises including "Doom," "Quake" and "Wolfenstein."

id Software, Fountainhead Team to Form Mobile Games Division

Mesquite, Texas - Video game developer id Software ("Doom," "Quake") said on Thursday that it has partnered with fellow developer Fountainhead Entertainment to create a new mobile game development unit, id Mobile. Led by president Katherine Anna Kang, the former director of business development at id Software, the division will develop titles for mobile phones, as well as the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. Fountainhead and id have previously collaborated on mobile games such as "Orcs & Elves" and "Doom RPG." id Mobile is currently working on a mobile version of "Wolfenstein," and a follow-up to "Doom RPG."

"Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" for PC Ships to Retail

Santa Monica, Calif. - Game developer id Software and publisher Activision on Tuesday shipped their "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" PC game to North American retailers. Developed by Splash Damage, the latest installment in the popular franchise supports multiplayer action for up to 24 gamers online. The game is also in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Santa Monica, Calif. - Publishers Activision and id Software, and developer Splash Damage announced on Thursday that their "Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars" PC game has gone gold, and will ship to retailers in Europe and Australia on Sept. 28, and in North America on Oct. 2. The game, which has already garnered more than 15 industry awards, is also in development for Xbox 360 at Nerve Software, and for PlayStation 3 at Activision Foster City.

Activision, id to Publish "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" for PS3, Xbox 360

Santa Monica, Calif. - Publisher Activision and game developer id Software on Tuesday announced plans to publish "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year. The team-based, first person action title is being developed for PS3 by Nerve Software, and for Xbox 360 by Z-Axis; Activision and id already announced that the PC version of the title is being developed by Splash Damage.

id Software Ships "Quake 4" for PC

Santa Monica, Calif. - Video game developer id Software announced on Tuesday that its "Quake 4" PC game has shipped to retailers. The title was developed by Raven Software and executive produced by id Software, while Activision will publish the game worldwide. Based on id Software's Doom 3 game technology, the game features both single player and multiplayer modes.

Activision, id Software Ship "Doom 3," Plan "Wolfenstein" for Xbox 360

Santa Monica, Calif. - Video game publisher Activision on Thursday shipped "Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil" for the Xbox to retailers. The third title in the franchise, which recently spawned a motion picture spin-off, was co-developed by id Software and Nerve Software. Separately, Activision said id Software will offer a new title in its popular "Wolfenstein" franchise for Xbox 360 and the PC. The unnamed title is currently in development at Raven Software, under executive production by id Software; Activision has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the game.
