Apple to Exit Macworld Expo; No Steve Jobs Keynote This Year

Cupertino, Calif. - Apple (NASD: AAPL) announced yesterday that this year will be the last it exhibits at Macworld Expo, the annual trade show that has become the event where CEO Steve Jobs unveils the company's latest creations. The company further threw water on January's event by announcing that Jobs will not deliver his traditional Macworld keynote address. "Apple is reaching more people in more ways than ever before, so like many companies, trade shows have become a very minor part of how Apple reaches its customers," the company said in a statement.

E for All Event in Question, After Expanded E3 Announcement

Los Angeles - With the Entertainment Software Association's (ESA) announcement this week that it will bring an expanded E3 event to downtown Los Angeles next year, the future of partner IDG World Expo's consumer-friendly E for All event could be in doubt, GameDaily reported. "We want to thank all of our E for All partners for their support, and we encourage E for All exhibitors to participate in the E3 new event, which we believe will meet their needs as well as those of the industry at large," IDG CEO Mary Dolaher told GameDaily. "IDG World Expo is very pleased to be partnering with the ESA on E3 and continuing to play a central role in that important industry event. We look forward to furthering our contribution to the success of the video game community."

Second E for All Video Game Expo Attracts 15,000 Attendees

Framingham, Mass. - The second annual E for All Expo, a consumer-oriented video game event, attracted about 15,000 attendees this past weekend at the Los Angeles Convention Center, according to event producer IDG World Expo. The three-day event let consumers demo new games and hardware, play in tournaments, and meet developers.

Microsoft Declines Invite to "E for All" Consumer Games Event

London - Microsoft will not be attending IDG World Expo's inaugural E for All consumer video game conference in Los Angeles in October, GamesIndustry.biz reported. Microsoft joins Sony Computer Entertainment America, Sega, Midway and Capcom in declining an invite to the event. Confirmed participants include Nintendo, Electronic Arts, THQ, Konami and Bandai Namco.
