San Francisco - Music-focused social network imeem on Wednesday released support for Google's (NASD: GOOG) OpenSocial on the imeem Media Platform, the site's third-party developer platform. With the addition, developers will now be able to port their existing social media applications created through OpenSocial to imeem, which counts over 24 million users.

San Francisco - Imeem, a music-focused social network that claims 24 million unique monthly visitors, announced on Monday that it has acquired Snocap, the digital music registry and rights clearinghouse service co-founded by Napster creator Shawn Fanning, for an undisclosed sum. San Francisco-based Snocap's digital registry currently counts over 7 million songs, and over 110,000 unsigned and label-based artists are using Snocap MyStores to sell their music on MySpace and other sites.

Social Media Service Imeem Releases Developer Platform

San Francisco - Social media service imeem on Tuesday released the Imeem Media Platform, a set of tools that will give developers access to the service's library of music, videos and photos, as well as imeem's 24 million members. The API also provides access to a "chromeless" version of the imeem media player, playlist-creation tool and recommendation engine. San Francisco-based imeem was also one of the founding partners of Google's OpenSocial, and plans to offer support for the initiative in the coming months.

New York - Major label Sony BMG has agreed to license its catalog to music-focused social network Imeem, Forbes.com reported, citing sources familiar with the situation. Warner Music signed a similar deal with the company in July, and sources at Universal Music and EMI told Forbes that they are in discussions with the company on potential partnerships. Under Warner's deal, the label shares in the ad revenue generated on Imeem, which claimed over 18 million active users as of August.
