Indaba Music Details Online Digital Audio Workstation

San Francisco - Indaba Music, an online community and provider of Web-based tools for musicians, on Wednesday announced the limited beta release of a new online digital audio workstation (DAW) platform. Set for release in July, the JavaFX-based platform lets amateur and pro musicians record high-quality audio directly to the Internet, access advanced mixing, editing and looping tools, and drag the software from the browser to the desktop.

Nettwerk, Universal, Indaba Team on Crowdsourced Remixes

New York - Canadian record label and management firm Nettwerk Music Group on Tuesday announced a deal with Universal Music Canada and Indaba to produce a "crowdsourced" companion remix album for hip-hop artist K-OS. Master stems from the 11 tracks on K-OS's forthcoming album "YES!" have been made available via Indaba, a provider of Web music collaboration and community tools. Musicians can download and remix the tracks, and in February K-OS will select the best submissions, with the winners each receiving $1,000 and a spot for their track on Universal's companion remix album.

Indaba Contest Offers Web Musical Collaborations With Yo-Yo Ma

New York - Indaba Music, the provider of an online music collaboration Web application, on Wednesday announced a contest that challenges musicians to collaborate with famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma. To promote his forthcoming album "Songs of Joy and Peace," Yo-Yo Ma posted a recording of himself performing the melody to one of the album's tracks, and asked musicians to add their own counter-melody or record an entirely new set of variations. The winner, as selected by Ma, will get the chance to record a new piece of music with him.

Third Eye Blind Offer Track Stems for Pre-Release Collaborations

New York - Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG)/Elektra Records band Third Eye Blind will solicit online collaboration with other musicians for their forthcoming album, releasing "stems" for each of the album's tracks onto the Internet through a partnership with Indaba Music. Indaba's network of over 75,000 musicians will be able to download and manipulate the tracks, and then resubmit them for consideration on both the actual album, and a companion digital release of remixes. A grand prize winner will also perform onstage with the band during their next tour.
