Atari Shares Delisted from Nasdaq

New York - Video game publisher Atari (NASD: ATAR), which last week agreed to merge with its major shareholder, France-based Infogrames, announced on Friday that the Nasdaq has delisted its shares, effective today.

Lyon, France - Video game publisher Infogrames, the largest shareholder in New York-based Atari (NASD: ATAR), announced on Thursday that it will acquire the rest of the Atari's outstanding shares for $11 million, or $1.68 per share.

New York - Video game publisher Atari (NASD: ATAR) announced on Thursday that earlier this week it received a delisting notice from the Nasdaq, which said in December that the company's shares could be delisted if they did not reach and maintain a $15 million market value for 10 consecutive days by March 20.

New York - Struggling video game publisher Atari (NASD: ATAR) announced on Friday that it has received an offer from France-based majority shareholder Infogrames, to acquire Atari outright for $1.68 a share, representing a 1% premium over the company's closing share price on Thursday.

Lyon, France - French video game publisher Infogrames, also the parent company of U.S.-based Atari (NASD: ATAR), has announced the appointment of Phil Harrison, former president of worldwide studios for Sony Corp.'s (NYSE: SNE) Sony Computer Entertainment , as its new president. Harrison, who will also take a seat on the company's board, was hired to lead group publishing and game development into the network era, and oversee the Atari brand in the U.S. and abroad.

New York - Struggling video game publisher Atari (NASD: ATAR) announced on Tuesday that it has completed some of its restructuring plans, altering its relationship with parent company Infogrames, and secured $4 million in new borrowing capacity to meet its holiday season financing needs. The company also announced that it has settled its dispute with FUNimation, holder of the "Dragon Ball Z" license, and will pay the company a total of $3.5 million while retaining the game rights through 2010.

Atari Sells Humongous Game Studio to Infogrames for $10.3 Million

New York -- Atari, the U.S. unit of French video game publisher Infogrames Entertainment, announced on Friday that it has sold its Humongous Entertainment development studio to Infogrames, for $10.3 million. As part of the deal, New York-based Atari was granted exclusive distribution rights for Humongous products in North America through March 2006. Humongous has developed numerous children's titles, including the "Backyard" sports series and titles based on children's TV shows like "Blue's Clues" and "Dora the Explorer." "We continue to execute our previously articulated strategic initiatives and strengthen Atari's financial position moving forward," said Atari chairman and CEO Bruno Bonnell. "This transaction substantially contributes to our resources for the launch of our largest titles in the holiday season and further enhances our capacity to develop new titles, ultimately enhancing shareholder value."

Hasbro Buys Some Game Rights Back from Infogrames for $65 Million

Pawtucket, R.I. -- Toymaker Hasbro announced on Thursday that it has reaquired the rights to develop video games based on its products from France-based Infogrames Entertainment -- the parent company of Atari -- for $65 million. The initial deal was struck in December 2000, between Hasbro Interactive and Infogrames' Games.com site. Hasbro said it has now entered into a new licensing agreement with Infogrames, giving the company rights to publish games based on ten Hasbro franchises. While Infrogrames and Atari will still publish titles based on Hasbro's "Dungeons and Dragons," and a range of board games like "Monopoly," "The Game of Life," "Clue" and "Battleship," Hasbro reacquired the video game rights to its "Transformers," "My Little Pony," "Connect Four," "Candyland" and other properties.
