Digital Distributor INgrooves Details New Label Signings

San Francisco - Digital music distributor INgrooves announced on Wednesday that it has added a "slew" of new artists and labels to its roster, including include Jimmy Buffett (Mailboat Records), John Michael Montgomery (Stringtown Records), K-Tel International (Chubby Checker, Tina Turner, Little Richard), Paid In Full Entertainment (Paul Wall, Chamillionaire), SMC Recordings and Strange Music. San Francisco-based INgrooves recently received a strategic investment from Universal Music Group, which also allowed the major label to use the company's proprietary software platform.

Universal Music Invests in Digital Distributor INgrooves

Los Angeles - Universal Music Group announced on Tuesday that it has made a strategic investment in digital music distributor INgrooves, and will partner with the company to distribute music. San Francisco-based INgrooves recently served as the exclusive digital distributor for Dolly Parton's "Backwoods Barbie" album, and also provides distribution and marketing services for partners including ESL Music, VP Records and Stones Throw Records.

San Francisco - Digital music distributor INgrooves announced on Tuesday that it has signed a deal with Dolly Parton and her Dolly Records label, and will digitally distribute her "Backwoods Barbie" album. Due out Feb. 26, the new record -- billed as Parton's "first mainstream country album in over 17 years" -- will also receive physical distribution through Artist2Market, Handleman's independent distribution division.

WaveGroup to Offer Actual "Guitar Hero" Recordings for Download

Fremont, Calif. - WaveGroup, the collective of musicians and studio professionals who produced the recordings for Activision/Red Octane's "Guitar Hero" video games, announced on Thursday that it will offer "The Guitar Hero Recordings" as digital downloads. Distributed by INgrooves, the set of 97 songs will be available from retailers including iTunes, Rhapsody and Napster.

INgrooves Upgrades ONE Digital Media Distribution Platform

San Francisco - INgrooves, a digital record label and provider of digital music distribution services, on Wednesday announced an upgrade to its ONE Digital media distribution platform. New features in ONE Digital 1.0 include weekly sales reporting; language localization; customized skinning and branding; object data modeling for handling diverse asset types; ad hoc file storage clustering and management tools; distributed grid computing for large asset sets; and intelligent text matching to tolerate imperfections during importing of sales reports.

SpiralFrog Licenses INgrooves Catalog for Ad-Supported Music Service

New York - SpiralFrog, the developer of an ad-supported, free music download service, said on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with independent digital music distributor INgrooves, to include the company's audio and video catalog on its service. The deal includes some 100,000 songs and 2,000 videos. New York-based SpiralFrog is currently beta testing its service, which also offers tracks from Universal Music Group, in North America.

Mobile Distributor Pocket Group Licenses CD Baby, INgrooves Tracks

London - U.K.-based mobile entertainment publisher Pocket Group said on Tuesday that it has signed agreements with independent music distributors CD Baby and INgrooves, to offer their tracks through its network of over 50 mobile carriers. Following the deals, the company said it counts a catalog of more than 1.5 million tracks.

Digital Music Retailer INgrooves Expands Into Film and Video

San Francisco - Independent digital music retailer INgrooves on Tuesday announced the launch of its INgrooves Film & Video division, which will initially offer a library of over 2,000 films and videos. Clients include IndiePix, Media Vision Entertainment Group, Pistol Digital and Capistrano Films. San Francisco-based INgrooves said it will distribute its video catalog through retail partners including Akimbo, IndiePix.net, Brightcove, Ruckus and VidZone, as well as through its existing music retail partners who also sell video, including iTunes, Rhapsody, Yahoo and AOL.

San Francisco - Digital music retailer and virtual label INgrooves announced on Wednesday that it has signed new digital distribution deals with a number of labels and artists, including DJ Paul Oakenfold's Perfect Records. Other signings included Coalition Media Group, bluhammock music, and artists Los Tigres Del Norte, Zoe Keating and Jake Shimabukuro.

INgrooves to Release Digital Single for MySpace Favorite Tila Tequila

Los Angeles - Tila Tequila, a young, female Asian rap artist who counts over 1.6 million friends and half a billion page views on MySpace, has signed a deal with digital label INgrooves and video producer Endemol to offer her debut single and music video as an independent, digital-only global release. The single for "I Love U," produced by Lil' Jon, and music video will packaged together as a 99 cent download made available exclusively on iTunes until March 13. The music video has already been available worldwide through mobile phone carriers since Feb. 14, with Sprint offering the exclusive download in the U.S.

INgrooves Taps Bango for Mobile Music Storefronts

New York - Bango, a provider of mobile music distribution technology, said on Thursday that independent digital music publisher INgrooves will use its service to allow artists to sell mobile music downloads. San Francisco-based INgrooves holds the mobile rights for 500 labels in the hip-hop, R&B, electronic and rock genres, and builds WAP sites for its artists and labels to sell ringtones and wallpapers. New York-based Bango's browse and buy technology will let artists like Thievery Corporation and The Crystal Method sell digital content directly to mobile phone users across all networks through their own mobile storefronts.

INgrooves Produces In-Game Soundtrack for Capcom's "Final Fight"

San Francisco - INgrooves, a digital distributor of mainly electronic music label artists, announced on Tuesday that it has licensed 28 hip-hop and electronic music tracks from its catalog to Japanese video game publisher Capcom, for use in the company's "Final Fight: Streetwise" game for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. San Francisco-based INgrooves also released the game's soundtrack today, on services including iTunes.

Nareos Launches P2P Service With CD Baby, INgrooves Songs

Beverly Hills, Calif. - Nareos, a California-based start-up with development facilities in Israel, announced on Monday the launch of its PeerReach peer-to-peer file-sharing service. The company has signed distribution agreements with online music store CD Baby, online label INgrooves and the Digital Rights Agency, which will provide over 1 million tracks to the service. Nareos said that PeerReach will push legitimate, licensed content to the top of its P2P search results, and sell songs for 99 cents each.

Dwango, INgrooves to Offer Exclusive Moby Ringtones

Seattle - Mobile entertainment publisher Dwango Wireless announced on Tuesday that it partnered with digital record label INgrooves to offer exclusive ringtones and other mobile content for V2 Records artist Moby. Dwango will offer 30 Moby ringtones exclusively through its Napstertones portal partnership with Napster through January 2006.

San Francisco -- INgrooves, a digital music record label and online distributor of dance, electronic, hip-hop and R&B tracks, announced that it recently closed a new round of venture capital financing, led by Acuity Ventures and WR Hambrecht & Co. Financial details were not disclosed. In addition to selling downloads through retailers including Sony Connect, San Francisco-based INgrooves offers tracks for licensing in video games, in addition to as ringtones and full-length mobile downloads. "INgrooves represents the future of the music industry and is the model for all digital record companies," said Larry Hootnick of Acuity Ventures. "The music industry is in turmoil and old business models need to be redefined using disruptive web-based software that takes advantage of the efficiencies of mobile and online distribution."
