EBay spokesperson Chris Donlay remarked “Given how fast the Internet changes, it’s no surprise that the line between competition and cooperation is sometimes blurry”. The story also cites a study conducted by McKinsey in 2003 on behalf of eBay that concluded that Google would not use its search capabilities to enter the e-commerce space. Today, one eBay insider confessed that getting closer to Google would be similar to “letting the fox into the henhouse”.
