Leiden, Netherlands - Joost, the peer-to-peer-based streaming TV service founded by the creators of Kazaa and Skype, announced on Thursday that it has signed 32 advertising partners for the launch of its service. Global advertisers will include Coca-Cola, HP, Intel and Nike; European partners include IBM, Nokia, Vodafone and Warner Bros; and U.S. advertisers will include Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Motorola, Procter & Gamble and United Airlines. Joost also announced a partnership with The Interpublic Emerging Media Lab, where several of the advertising agency's clients will work jointly with Joost to develop creative marketing campaigns on the service. Bertelsmann has named Richard Sarnoff as President of its new venture-capital fund, Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI), that will invest in early-stage companies focused primarily on digital media. Sarnoff, President of Random House’s Corporate Development Group, a division of Bertelsmann, will remain in the company’s New York headquarters, reporting to Bertelsmann CFO Thomas Rabe, and will retain his responsibilities within Random House.

Alviso, Calif. - TiVo announced on Monday that it has signed a multimillion dollar advertising agreement with advertising company Interpublic Media, which will provide Interpublic clients with preferred pricing and access to new advertising technologies. The "upfront" agreement with Interpublic, which oversees agencies including Initiative, Magna Global and Universal McCann, was handled by Interpublic's new Emerging Media Lab. "TiVo offers an interactive advertising solution that enables the consumer to pause television and engage in a branded advertising experience, without missing even a second of the TV show a viewer is watching," said TiVo CEO Tom Rogers. "We are excited to expand our long-standing relationship with Interpublic and look forward to capitalizing on their intellectual capital, experience and relationships in the future."
