Kansas Latest State to Introduce Violent Video Games Bill

Topeka, Kan. - Kansas has become the latest state to introduce legislation that would ban the sale of violent video games to minors. The Kansas House Democrats introduced the Child Protection from Violent Video Games Act, which has the support of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. Judges have routinely overturned similar laws passed in California, Michigan, Washington, Illinois, St. Louis County and the city of Indianapolis, ruling the bans to be unconstitutional restrictions on First Amendment free speech protections.

On2 Technologies Introduces Mobile TV Streaming Technology

Barcelona - On2 Technologies, a developer of video compression technology, on Tuesday introduced its On2 TrueMobile Video mobile video streaming technology. Built on On2's VP7 video compression, the technology enables live and video-on-demand streaming over 2.5G and 3G mobile networks to Symbian and Windows Mobile-based handsets and mobile devices. On2 said Chinese mobile TV service provider CTTNet is among the first customers for On2 TrueMobile Video.

Motorola Introduces First Low-Cost Handset with FM Receiver

Barcelona - Motorola on Monday introduced the Motorola W220 handset, its first value-priced phone to include an FM radio receiver. The device is slated to ship in the third quarter of 2006.

Qmotions Introduces Boardsports, Bicycle Video Game Controllers

New York - Qmotions, a maker of video game accessories, on Friday introduced two new alternative video game controllers -- one for board sports, and another that converts a bicycle into a game controller. The Qmotions XBoard plugs directly into existing games consoles and is compatible with current surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and windsurfing video games, while the Qmotions Fun Fitness converts recumbent bikes into game controllers compatible with auto racing and jet skiing titles. Both devices will be available for under $100 in the spring of 2006.
