Isohunt Launches Hexagon.cc Social File-Sharing Site

Los Angeles - The operators of BitTorrent search engine Isohunt, which is currently battling copyright infringement lawsuits from the MPAA and CRIA, has launched a new torrent site with social sharing features, TorrentFreak reported. Hexagon.cc will allow users to start their own groups on the site, and share content within various niches of interest. Users may then choose to share the material privately, or in public. Hexagon also allows artists monetization like fan donations and a cut of ad revenues. A judge ruled last week that the MPAA has not proven that Isohunt users are violating U.S. copyright laws.

San Francisco - A federal judge said Wednesday that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) had not proven that users of Isohunt, a search engine providing links to files on BitTorrent file-sharing networks, are violating U.S. copyright law, CNET News.com reported.

Toronto - A Canadian Supreme Court Judge has denied BitTorrent search engine isoHunt's request for a ruling that it does not infringe copyrights, and must submit to a full trial should it choose to proceed in its case against the Canadian Record Industry Association (CRIA), Billboard reported.

Los Angeles - Major label Sony (NYSE: SNE) BMG and Norwegian online music store Platekompaniet have complained to Google, after Google AdWords ads for their companies appeared on IsoHunt, one of the world's largest BitTorrent file-sharing network tracker sites, TorrentFreak reported. The ads weren't reportedly served directly by Google, but rather through Google AdWords reseller Ask.com.

Los Angeles - TorrentSpy, the BitTorrent tracker that was ordered by a federal judge this week to pay the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) $111 million in copyright infringement damages, has filed for bankruptcy protection in England and will not pay up, the company's attorney, Ira Rothken, told Wired.com.
