Paltalk Sues Multiplayer Game Publishers Over Chat Technology

New York - Paltalk, a provider of online chat and instant messaging technology, has filed patent infringement claims against a number of massively multiplayer online game publishers, alleging they are using its real-time messaging technology without licenses, Mass High Tech reported.

Jagex Says "RuneScape" MMOG Hits 1 Million Subscribers

Cambridge, England - U.K.-based game developer Jagex said on Thursday that its "RuneScape" massively multiplayer online roleplaying game has now surpassed one million subscribers. The game claims subscribers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia and Scandinavia; Jagex also recently launched a German-language beta of RuneScape.

U.K. Online Game Developer Jagex Gets Investment from Insight

London - Jagex, a developer and publisher of massively multiplayer online games, announced on Tuesday that it has received an undisclosed equity investment from Insight Venture Partners. U.K.-based Jagex operates the online game "RuneScape," which currently claims 3.5 million active players and 500,000 paying subscribers; other Jagex titles include "Meltdown" and "SlimeWar," and a number of free-to-play mini-games. The company will use the funds to expand its games into non-English-language markets, and for ongoing development of "RuneScape" and other titles.
