News Corp. Taps Former AOL Head to Oversee Digital Media

New York - Media giant News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) on Wednesday named former AOL (NYSE: TWX) head Jonathan Miller as its chief digital officer and the chairman and CEO of its new Digital Media Group. Miller will direct the company's stand-alone digital businesses, including MySpace, IGN Entertainment, Photobucket, Jamba and its Hulu joint venture with NBC Universal.

New York - Contrary to widespread reports that surfaced earlier this month, former AOL (NYSE: TWX) head Jonathan Miller is not trying to acquire Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) and isn't a candidate to replace departed CEO Jerry Yang, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

Dulles, Va. - Jonathan Miller, the former CEO of AOL (NYSE: TWX), has been attempting to raise money to buy all or part of Yahoo (NASD: YHOO), The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. Citing people familiar with the matter, the paper reported that Miller is trying to raise upwards of $30 billion from various investors and funds.

Dulles, Va. - Two weeks away from pitching his radical plan to transform AOL into a free, ad-supported service, CEO Jonathan Miller is expected to call for thousands of layoffs and a "near halt" to marketing of the company's trademark Internet service, The New York Times reported on Monday.
