San Francisco - Ecast, a maker of Internet-connected digital jukeboxes for bars and restaurants, has secured $17 million in new funding, PaidContent reported, citing a regulatory filing.

San Diego - A U.S. unit of Korea's LG Electronics on Monday announced the launch of LG: Rally for Music, an online social network for music fans and aspiring musicians. The site will host online talent contests where winners can receive LG televisions, MP3 players, mobile phones and the chance to be one of four finalists who will perform at a live event, with a grand prize of $15,000.

Netflix, LG Developing Set-top to Stream Movies to HDTVs

Los Gatos, Calif. - Online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) announced on Thursday that it has partnered with Korea's LG Electronics, to develop a set-top box that will allow consumers to stream movies and other video from the Internet to HDTVs.

LG, Harris Corp. Debut New Local TV Mobile Broadcast Technology

Cincinnati, Ohio - Broadcast equipment maker Harris Corporation, and the U.S. arm of Korean consumer electronics firm LG, announced on Tuesday that they have partnered to develop a new mobile digital TV delivery system that will allow for reception of local stations' digital broadcast signals on cell phones, as well as car-based and other handheld devices.

LG Electronics today announced the appointment of John Herrington to president of the LG Electronics USA Digital Appliance Division. Since 2001, he has served as the division's vice president of sales.Effective Jan. 1, 2007, Herrington will succeed Soon Kwon, who will now be responsible for digital appliance sales and marketing in the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

LG Electronics to Ship Blu-ray DVD Player in the U.S. in Q2

Las Vegas - Korea's LG Electronics announced on Friday that it will ship its first Blu-ray Disc next-generation DVD player, the LG BD199, in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2006. LG did not provide pricing details for the device, which is based on Blu-ray DVD technology developed by Sony. Samsung also plans to introduce a $1,000 Blu-ray DVD player in the U.S. in the spring.
