Sony Licenses Content, Lowers Prices For PSP Movies

Foster City CA. - Sony Computer Entertainment is lowering movie title prices for Playstation Portable handheld device in the Universal Media Disc (UMD) format, signing studio deals to license content and making digital copies playable on the handheld system, according to Video Business. Since the DVD market is maturing, the goal is to better establish the PlayStation Portable as a film-viewing device in competition with other video-playing devices such as iPods and iPhones.

Gemstar Licenses Program Guide for Panasonic's European Products

Los Angeles - Gemstar-TV Guide International, a provider of electronic program guides for digital TV services, announced on Wednesday that it has signed a licensing agreement with Japan's Matsushita, known in the U.S. as Panasonic. Under the deal, Panasonic will incorporate a new digital interactive program guide from Gemstar in the digital televisions and digital video recorders it sells in Europe.
