Dulles, Va. - AOL parent Time Warner may be preparing to spin off its newly formed advertising unit through an initial public offering (IPO), TechCrunch reported on Thursday.

Dulles, Va. - After using its platform for more than four years, AOL said on Thursday that it has acquired Lightningcast, a developer of broadband video advertising technology, for an undisclosed sum.

Washington, DC -- About four months after raising $5 million in a round of venture capital financing, DC-based Lightningcast, a maker of software for broadband advertising, said on Monday that it has added two new investors -- WWC Capital and the Washington Dinner Club. The amount of the additional funding was not disclosed, but the company said that it plans to use it to accelerate product development and expand its sales organization in response to increase demand for its products. The company's clients include AOL, Disney/ABC, Microsoft and MTV.

Alexandria, Va. -- Lightningcast, a Virginia-based developer of a software platform for broadband advertising, said on Wednesday that it has raised $5 million in a new round of funding. New investors Global Internet Ventures and New Markets Growth Fund joined previous investors Nokia Venture Partners and Redleaf Group in the round. The company said that it will use the capital to accelerate product development and expand its sales organization. Lightningcast's core technology, used by major media companies, allows owners and distributors of broadband audio and video to insert streaming ads. Its clients include AOL, Disney/ABC, NPR and MTV.

Alexandria, Va. -- Lightningcast, a provider of ad insertion technology and services to the Internet broadcast market, said on Monday that it has closed an undisclosed amount of funding with existing investors Nokia Venture Partners, Redleaf Group and Birchmere Ventures. The company said that the round should adequately fund all of its future investment capital needs. Lightningcast provides advertising technology and services to major media companies that deliver audio or video programming over the Internet -- the technology seamlessly inserts ads into existing content.
