Linktone to Distribute MLB Mobile Content in Asia

Beijing - Linktone (NASD: LTON), a wireless entertainment distributor in China, said on Monday that it has signed a multi-year deal making it the exclusive distributor of certain mobile Major League Baseball content in China, South Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines. Linktone will manage officially-licensed MLB websites and wireless portals offering live video streaming of games, on-demand videos, news and statistics.

Shanghai - Linktone (NASD: LTON), a provider of mobile entertainment and advertising services in China, announced on Wednesday that Indonesian media firm PT Media Nusantara Citra (MNC) has agreed to purchase at least 51% of its outstanding shares.

London - LaNetro Zed, a Spain-based distributor of entertainment content on digital and mobile platforms, announced on Friday that it has paid $66.7 million for a 52% stake in U.K.-based mobile entertainment publisher MonsterMob.

Shanghai, China - Linktone, a Chinese mobile entertainment publisher, announced on Monday that it has made an undisclosed strategic investment in Beijing Center National Radio Media, a nationwide Chinese advertising agency. Linktone said the investment is BCNRM, which serves China National Radio-1 and 2, is part of the company's strategy to develop interactive programming for TV, radio and print.

China's Linktone Buys Stake in Mobile Game Developer Ojava

Shanghai - Linktone, a publisher of mobile entertainment content in China, announced on Thursday that it has made a $1.8 million strategic investment in Chinese mobile game developer Ojava Overseas. Linktone will receive a 51% equity stake in Ojava, and plans to make a further $1.6 million investment in the company; Linktone also retains the option to purchase the remaining interest in Ojava. Founded in 2004, Ojava has developed original roleplaying mobile games based on Chinese historical backgrounds and traditional stories. Linktone said it expects China's mobile gaming sector to see revenues of $726 million by 2008.

China's Linktone Acquires Majority Stake in Digital Music Retailer 9Sky

Shanghai - Linktone, a distributor of wireless entertainment services in China, announced on Tuesday that it has made an undisclosed investment and acquired a majority stake in 9Sky International, a Chinese digital music retailer. Under the terms of the transaction, Linktone has the option to acquire 9Sky outright over the next two years. 9Sky has licensing agreements with Sony BMG and EMI, among other labels, to sell full-track music downloads. "Given recent crackdowns on pirated websites and search engines facilitating access to those websites and trends among consumers who are increasingly willing to pay for licensed services, we believe that the market for the licensing and the sale of music download services is at its early stages of growth and it is the right time for Linktone to enter this promising market," said Linktone CEO Raymond Yang. Linktone said it plans to leverage 9Sky's brand strength in the music download market with its own wireless presence, and integrate 9Sky's services with its own wireless music offerings.

Chinese Games Firm Linktone Acquires Brilliant Concept for $11.5 Million

Shanghai, China -- Linktone, a Chinese developer of online and mobile video games and other applications, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired British Virgin Islands-based Brilliant Concept Investments, a developer of online casual games for the Chinese market. Linktone paid $11.5 million for Brilliant, which offers its online board and card games to a community of more than 15 million registered users. Linktone also separately announced that it has licensed "Mr. Hammer," an online game title from Korean publisher Neople, for distribution in China.
