Live Earth India Concert Cancelled in Wake of Attacks

Los Angeles - Former Vice President Al Gore and Live Earth founder Kevin Wall said on Monday that Live Earth India, concert originally slated for Dec. 7 in Mumbai, has been cancelled in light of the recent tragic attacks there. The concert was set to feature local stars like Aishwarya Rai alongside Bon Jovi, Roger Waters and others. "We will continue to work for solutions to the climate crisis for the good of the people of India and around the world. But for now, our thoughts and our prayers are with the victims of this terrible attack, with the bereaved, with the people of Mumbai and with everyone in India," Live Earth India said in a statement.

MSN Claims Webcast Record With Live Earth Concerts

East Rutherford, N.J. - Microsoft said that its live webcasts of the Live Earth concerts this weekend served up over 10 million streams, marking the most simultaneous viewers for any online concert ever.

Intelsat to Broadcast Live Earth Concerts in HD

Los Angeles - Commercial satellite operator Intelsat has announced a partnership with the Live Earth global warming awareness concert series, and will broadcast the concerts in New York, London, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney and Hamburg in both standard and high-definition.

New Madonna Song Posted for Free Download on MSN

Redmond, Wash. - As part of the upcoming Live Earth climate crisis concert series, a new song from recording artist Madonna has been placed for free download on Microsoft's LiveEarth.MSN.com site, which will also stream the concert series live on July 7. MSN said it will donate 25 cents for each of the first million downloads of "Hey You" -- a song written specifically for the Live Earth event -- to the Alliance for Climate Protection.
