MTV Taps Gracenote to Incorporate Song Lyrics on Websites

New York - Viacom's MTV Networks announced on Monday that it has partnered with Gracenote to incorporate music lyrics into its on-air, online and mobile platforms. On sites like MTV.com, VH1.com and CMT.com, users will be able to search for full song lyrics, while mobile users will be able to text an artist's name, song title or a portion of the lyrics and be sent to a mobile Internet page displaying the full lyrics.

Yahoo Music Licenses Gracenote Song Lyrics Database

Santa Monica, Calif. - Yahoo's music unit announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with Gracenote, a provider of CD and digital track identification services, to offer its users access to Gracenote's new database of song lyrics.

Gracenote to Launch Lyrics Database in Europe in 2008

Cannes, France - Gracenote, a provider of CD identification and other database services, announced on Monday that it has expanded its Lyrics program into Europe, having initiated licensing discussions with European music publishers and artists. California-based Gracenote signed over 80 publishers to add titles to its Lyrics database in the U.S., including the five major publishers. The company said that its database contains more than 600,000 uniquely European albums, and has been searched more than 100 million times by European consumers. Gracenote plans to launch its Lyrics program in Europe in 2008.

All Media Guide Teams With LyricFind to Add Lyrics to Music Database

Ann Arbor, Mich. - All Media Guide, a provider of informational databases on music, movies and games, announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with LyricFind to offer lyric search and display capabilities. LyricFind has licensed lyrics from over 1,700 publishers, which will be available to retailers and device manufacturers using All Media Guide's database. The deal also enables AMG to resell LyricFind services to its customers, while LyricFind may provide basic AMG data to its clients.

Gracenote Signs Publishers Warner/Chappell, EMI for Web Lyrics Database

Emeryville, Calif. - Gracenote, a provider of CD identification technology and related services, announced on Wednesday that it has signed agreements with Warner/Chappell Music and EMI Music Publishing, to add hundreds of thousands of new song lyrics to its Gracenote Lyrics online database.

Harry Fox Agency Licenses LyricFind to Post Song Lyrics Online

New York - The Harry Fox Agency (HFA), a U.S. music rights licensing organization, announced that it has signed a lyrics licensing agreement with LyricFind, a website that publishes song lyrics. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the terms, music publishers can participate on an opt-in basis and will be able to add, review and edit lyrics on LyricFind's database. HFA said the service will be offered to publishers on a commission-free basis, waiving its usual 6.75% cut of royalties.

Korean MP3 Player Software Adds Synchronized Lyrics

Seoul -- Korean software developer ESTsoft on Wednesday introduced its ALSong live lyrics MP3 player PC software. The application allows users to view synchronized lyrics to over 1 million songs as they listen.
